The Monstera 'Burle Marx Flame' is a rare and striking tropical plant known for its elongated, fenestrated leaves that emerge with a reddish hue, adding a unique touch to any indoor space. Here's how to care for it:

 Light

  • Ideal: Bright, indirect light.

  • Avoid: Direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves.

  • Tip: An east- or west-facing window is often perfect.

Watering

  • Frequency: Water when the top 1–2 inches of soil are dry.

  • Method: Water thoroughly, ensuring excess drains away.

  • Note: Overwatering can lead to root rot; ensure the pot has good drainage.

 Temperature & Humidity

  • Temperature: Maintain between 65°F to 85°F (18°C to 29°C).

  • Humidity: Prefers high humidity (60%–80%).

  • Tip: Use a humidifier, mist the plant, or place it on a pebble tray to increase humidity.

 Soil

  • Type: Well-draining, airy mix.

  • Recommended Mix: Combine orchid bark, peat moss, and perlite.

  • pH: Aim for a soil pH of 5.5 to 6.5.

Fertilizer

  • Growing Season: Feed every 4–6 weeks during spring and summer with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer (e.g., 20-20-20).

  • Dormant Period: Reduce or withhold fertilization during fall and winter.

Propagation

  • Method: Stem cuttings with at least one node and one leaf.

  • In Water: Place the cutting in water, ensuring the node is submerged. Change the water every few days.

  • In Soil: Plant directly into a well-draining mix and maintain high humidity until roots establish.

 Additional Tips

  • Support: As a climber, provide a moss pole or trellis to support its aerial roots.

  • Repotting: Consider repotting every 2–3 years into a slightly larger pot with good drainage.

  • Pests: Watch for common pests like spider mites and mealybugs.
